Message from the President
Students, friends, and colleagues,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the online home of the Adams County Music Educators Association. The ACMEA membership consists of professional music educators representing Adams County’s public, charter, and Christian schools, as well as Gettysburg College. As a professional organization, ACMEA seeks to provide musical opportunities for our students while spreading the message of the importance of music education. Today, music is consumed in a manner unique from any other point in human history, and a society full of musically expert people is more important than ever. While some students may choose life as professional or amateur performers, any single person with access to the internet has available, at an instant, a library of music larger than could be housed in any single location. Music pervades our daily existence, and all citizens should receive a high-quality music education to learn discernment in their consumption of music, whether experienced or performed. The members of ACMEA believe that music is a praxial skill, not inert information and will strive to provide authentic and culturally relevant musical experiences to our 21st Century students. Please feel free to browse our website, chat with our members, and most importantly, share in the great musical events happening in our schools.
